Meadow Wind’s historic red barn and beautiful grounds are THE perfect location for your special event or wedding. We will provide the spectacular scenery and venue, and you create the wedding or event of your dreams. Meadow Wind’s nearly two-acre backyard is surrounded by the NH Audubon’s 200 acre wildlife sanctuary, including an incredible view of sweeping meadows that lead to the Cockermouth River.
Are there additional costs to have events at Meadow Wind?
Yes, there is a mandatory $100 parking fee, due to the NH Audubon, to utilize their field for guest parking. Meadow Wind has spaces for 6 cars in the driveway and is on a state road, so utilizing the Audubon field is necessary. As well, our bathrooms are reserved for guests of the Inn only, so you would need to rent the appropriate number of porta-potties or trailer to accommodate event guests. There are very nice styles designed for events that are like a small bathroom. Otherwise, additional add-ons are at your discretion.
Do I have to rent rooms to use Meadow Wind for a Wedding or Special Event?
Yes, you are required to rent all rooms in the Inn for at least two nights. This gives you and your guests uninterrupted use of the property and plenty of time to set up, enjoy your event, and take down the decor, etc.
After I reserve the venue, what else do I need to do?
Once the contract is signed and the deposit is paid you can start your planning! One of the nice parts about Meadow Wind is that you can truly customize your event! We have great relationships with many vendors who can help to coordinate tents, tables, chairs, linens, beverages, DJ, band, porta-potty, florist, photographer, buses, and so forth. We are happy to make recommendations or you can go with your own.
Can we use Meadow Wind for our rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding or a farewell brunch the morning after our wedding?
Yes you can for an additional fee.
Can I decorate for my event?
Yes, we pride ourselves on being a DIY event venue, so you can turn your dreams into reality. As long as nothing is being nailed into our structures or otherwise damages or defaces the property, you can pretty much do as you please.
How big is the red barn?
It’s 48’ long and 36’ wide and comfortably seats 75 people. If you want a dance floor we would recommend no more than 50 guests seated. Many brides and grooms use the Red Barn for cocktail and dancing and use a tent for dinner service, etc.
How much is the deposit and payment schedule?
In order to hold the desired date of your wedding or event, a 50% deposit and a signed contract is required at booking. 50% of the remaining balance is due 90 days prior to the event and full payment is due no later than 30 days before the event. Deposits/payments for all events must be paid via cash or check and are all non-refundable.
Wedding/Special Event Deposit and Cancellation Policy
A 50% deposit is required at booking to hold the date along with a signed contract; 1/2 the remaining balance is due 90 days before the event; final balance is due at least 30 days before the wedding/event date. You are responsible for the costs of renting all of the rooms at Meadow Wind for at least 2 nights. Payment in full for the rooms is due no later than 30 days in advance of check-in. We are happy to bill guests directly if you provide us with names, addresses, email and which room they will be staying in. Once venue deposits are made, they are non-refundable. Ultimately, it is the wedding couples responsibility to ensure full payment is made for all costs associated with the venue or rooms.
What time must my event end?
Out of respect for the historic district and surrounding neighbors, there is a 10pm hard stop for all events. This is strictly enforced.
What if a guest causes a disturbance at my event?
They will be asked to leave the property.
Smoking is prohibited in or near the barn and Inn. There is a designated area on the property for smoking.
